The story behind the shirt

A festival built to feel like the future.

The 1983 US Festival brought new wave, heavy metal, rock, country music and emerging technology together in Southern California.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak backed the event near San Bernardino, California. The main festival ran May 28–30, 1983, with a separate Country Day on June 4.

The bill reads like an ’80s time capsule: The Clash, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, U2, Stevie Nicks, David Bowie and many more. Guinness World Records lists total attendance at 670,000 across the four festival days.
